| Mô tả mặt trước | The Paraguayan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a radiant five-pointed star within a wreath of palm and olive branches, surmounted by the Cap of Liberty. The date 1972 is divided on either side of the lower wreath, flanking the denomination '1500 GUARANIES' inscribed in the lower field. A small fineness mark '900' appears just below the denomination. The circumferential legend 'REPUBLICA DEL PARAGUAY' arcs around the upper portion of the coin, framed by a beaded border. |

| Thông tin bổ sung |
Paraguay's 1972 Olympic commemorative series was part of a broad wave of gold issues produced by smaller nations with no direct connection to the Munich Games — a common fundraising mechanism of the period in which the IOC licensed the Olympic theme to issuing authorities worldwide. Paraguay fielded a minimal delegation to Munich and had no particular claim to the hurdling event, making this purely a bullion-adjacent commemorative aimed at collectors rather than any domestic celebratory purpose.
The Munich Games themselves were overshadowed by the September massacre of eleven Israeli athletes and coaches by the Black September organization — an event that briefly halted competition before the IOC controversially chose to continue.
