| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the central field, depicted in high relief with two leopards as supporters flanking a quartered shield bearing a castle, a star, a palm tree, and a sailing ship, surmounted by a buffalo head above a scroll. The motto ribbon below reads FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper periphery, the date 2022 appears below the crest, and the denomination 1500 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in large numerals across the lower field. The entire design is rendered in antique copper finish with a richly textured background field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Benin's CFA franc is issued under the West African Economic and Monetary Union, with monetary policy controlled entirely by the BCEAO in Dakar — meaning Benin itself has no independent authority over its currency. These large-format copper pieces exist almost exclusively as collector items produced for the international numismatic market, bearing denominations that bear no functional relationship to anything in domestic circulation. The 1500 franc face value on a kilogram copper slug is a legal fiction; the metal alone is worth multiples of it.
