Aanvullende informatie

Ras al-Khaimah was the most prolific — and most cynical — issuer of collector coinage among the Trucial States in the years immediately before UAE federation in 1971. These pieces were never intended for circulation; they were produced under contract with European minting houses and sold directly to the international numismatic market as a revenue-generating scheme. The "Saqr Rome" designation refers to a commemorative issue tied to the 1960 Rome Olympics restrikes program, exploiting the name of the ruling sheikh, Saqr bin Mohammed al-Qasimi, for nominal legitimacy.

The sheikdom ceased issuing independent coinage upon joining the UAE.
