| Obverse description | The national arms of Barbados are prominently displayed at centre, featuring a shield supported by a dolphin to the left and a pelican to the right, surmounted by a helmet and the arm of a Barbadian holding two crossed sugarcane stalks. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in the legend PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The date 1981 is divided across the field to either side of the arms, flanked by trident symbols.
