| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central depiction of the Temple of Heaven (Tiantan) rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, viewed from a slight elevation to convey architectural depth. The upper arc bears the Chinese legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China), while the lower arc carries the commemorative inscription 中国熊猫金币发行25周年纪念 (25th Anniversary of the Chinese Panda Gold Coin). The date 2007 appears in the exergue below the temple, framed by a beaded inner border. |

The Chinese Panda series launched in 1982, making 2007 its 25th anniversary — hence this fractional issue. One defining quirk of the Panda program is that the reverse design changes almost every year, a deliberate policy that drives collector demand and distinguishes the series from most other bullion programs worldwide. The sole exception was 2001 and 2002, when an identical design was reused, triggering enough collector outcry that the mint reverted to its annual-change policy.
