| 背面描述 | The reverse displays an elaborate Baroque cartouche composed of boldly engraved acanthus scrollwork and foliate ornaments, within which the devotional Latin inscription GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO is arranged across four lines. Below the main legend, the date 1738 is inscribed, and the denomination numeral 15 appears within an oval frame at the base of the cartouche. A decorative floral finial crowns the top of the cartouche, and the entire design is contained within a milled border. |

Appenzell Innerrhoden remained one of the few Swiss cantons to maintain its own silver coinage well into the eighteenth century, a privilege fiercely defended by the Catholic half of the divided Appenzell after the confessional split of 1597 formally separated it from Protestant Ausserrhoden. The 15 Kreuzer denomination was peculiar to the region — an awkward fraction born of local trade conventions rather than any broader monetary standardization. The HMZ references citing both 2-38b and 2-38c indicate two distinct die variants documented for this year, differing in minor legend or shield details.
