The portrait occupies the central field of the flan, with the surface now exhibiting a deep green patina consistent with prolonged burial. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hammered bronzes of this series.

The city's political independence was perpetually precarious, squeezed between larger Troad powers and the shifting territorial ambitions that followed Alexander's campaigns through Asia Minor. The Svoronos Cretans reference situating this type is itself a scarce bibliographic resource, making die-linkage studies across surviving specimens correspondingly difficult.
