| 表面の説明 | The national arms of the Lao People's Democratic Republic are depicted in the center of the field, comprising a stylized stupa flanked by symmetrical sheaves of rice, a cogwheel at the base, and a landscape with roads and a globe. The circular legend 'THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC' runs along the upper periphery in Latin script, with the Lao-script inscription on a ribbon below the arms. The date '2005' appears in the lower exergual area. |

Mazu is a Chinese sea goddess whose cult originated in Fujian province during the Song dynasty and spread across maritime Southeast Asia through centuries of Chinese emigration. Her inclusion on a Lao commemorative is commercially driven — these pieces were produced almost entirely for the export collector market, targeting diaspora communities and thematic collectors in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, where Mazu worship remains actively practiced. Laos has no meaningful coastal tradition connected to the deity.
