| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet, rendered in moderately high relief with visible facial features including a prominent nose and chin. The helmet crest curves gracefully over the head, and traces of a cheek-guard are discernible. The portrait is executed in the broad, somewhat schematic style typical of Ionian civic bronze coinage of the Hellenistic period. The field surrounding the effigy is plain and unlettered. |
