Beschrijving voorzijde	Facing head of the river god Istros depicted in three-quarter view, rendered with prominent bull's horns rising from the forehead and a full, curly beard, characteristic of the archaic-to-classical Greek convention for personifying river deities. The modelling is bold and deeply struck, with the horns and facial features rendered in high relief against the plain field. The effigy occupies the full flan, with no surrounding legend or border. The naturalistic treatment of the beard and the penetrating facial expression reflect the skilled die-cutting traditions of the Black Sea Greek colonial mints.
