Caisse Desjardins was founded in Lévis, Quebec in December 1900 by Alphonse Desjardins, making it the first credit union in North America. This note marks the 125th anniversary of that founding. The "Apprentis Numismates" designation places it within a youth numismatic education program — a category of promotional paper that blurs the line between collectible and teaching aid, issued for handling and study rather than financial circulation.
