| Obverse description | Confronted foreparts of a lion and a bull facing one another, rendered in archaic Lydian style with bold, stylized relief. The lion, occupying the left portion of the field, displays a prominent mane and open jaws, while the bull's forepart is depicted to the right. The design fills the irregularly shaped flan with characteristic vigour, the figures meeting at the center of the composition. No inscription or legend appears on the obverse, consistent with pre-literate Lydian coinage tradition. The relief is deeply struck, giving the design a sculptural, three-dimensional quality despite the coin's diminutive size. |
