| Beschrijving voorzijde | Calf's head facing right in high relief, rendered in the archaic Ionian style with schematic anatomical detail. The muzzle, eye socket, and ear are summarily but distinctly modelled, characteristic of early electrum coinage from the region. The design fills the irregular flan, with the surface showing the typical striated texture of the hammered blank. No legend or inscription is present in the field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Among the earliest coined money produced anywhere in the world, these fractional electrum pieces predate the standardization efforts that Lydia and later Aegina would impose on Greek monetary systems. The natural alloy — a mix of gold and silver occurring in local riverbeds, particularly the Pactolus — varied enough between issues that ancient merchants likely relied on weight rather than any implicit trust in consistent fineness. Attribution to a specific polis remains impossible for most of these fractions; the SNG von Aulock reference places it within the Ionian sphere without committing further.
