Reverse description The reverse presents the full Brazilian Imperial coat of arms: a large escutcheon bearing a central roundel with the Southern Cross constellation and an armillary sphere on a horizontally lined field, encircled by nineteen five-pointed stars representing the provinces of the Empire. The shield is flanked by branches of coffee to the left and tobacco to the right, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A large imperial crown surmounts the escutcheon at the top. The circular legend IN HOC SIGNO VINCES is distributed around the upper field, interrupted by a small cross above the crown, and the entire composition rests within a beaded border.
