The encircling Latin legend AVDIATVR x ALTERA x PARS, meaning 'let the other side be heard', is a juridical motto adopted by the Prince-Bishops of Liège, followed by the denomination indication XII SVS (with known varieties reading SOV, SOS, SO, or SOVS).
