The trophy, composed of captured arms and armour mounted on a pole, occupies the central field, with Nike positioned to one side extending a wreath. The bilingual legend ΑΝΤΙΠ ΛΕΠΙ appears in the field, referencing both the city of Antipolis and the Roman magistrate Lepidus, whose name reflects Roman political influence over the colony during the late Republican period. The overall design reflects the fusion of Greek iconographic tradition with Roman administrative authority. |
