Thyrreion — the spelling variants alone track the scholarly disputes over this Akarnanian city's identity — was a member of the Acarnanian League, the federal koina that managed collective coinage policy across the region. Individual member cities retained the right to strike small bronze for local use, which explains the proliferation of tiny civic issues like this one in the mid-third century. The League itself struck silver; the bronze was left to the cities.
