| Obverse description | The obverse features the crowned coat of arms of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, displaying the quartered ducal shield with the characteristic Saxon barry field and the Ernestine rautenkranz (rue crown) device, all surmounted by a large ducal crown. The shield is presented in an ornate baroque cartouche with scrollwork framing. The peripheral legend reads FRIEDER. HERZ. Z. G. S., an abbreviation for Friedrich, Herzog zu Gotha-Sachsen, identifying the reigning duke Frederick III. The coin's milled border frames the design with a fine toothed rim. |

The year of issue 1752 is struck below the denomination, with the engraver's initials L.C.K. (Ludwig Christian Koch) placed at the very base of the design. |
