| Reverse description | The reverse field is dominated by a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold, deeply struck raised script arranged in horizontal registers across the entire flan. The legend records the ruler's name and patronymic, identifying him as Mahmud Shah son of Muhammad Shah al-Sultan. The script style is consistent with the Gujarati sultanate tradition of the late 15th to early 16th century, with characteristic thick strokes and angular letterforms. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with areas of green cuprite patination. The rim is plain and undefined, typical of hammered copper issues of this mint and period. |
