| Reverse description | The reverse of this cut and countermarked piece displays the remnant surface of the original Spanish colonial 8 Reales host coin, heavily worn and largely obliterated by the cutting and scalloping process used to produce the flan. The field is flat to slightly concave and exhibits the characteristic texture of a heavily circulated silver piece, with no legible legend or device remaining discernible. The scalloped edge, formed by the deliberate shaping of the planchet to produce this emergency coinage denomination, is clearly visible around the entire periphery. |
