Reverse description The reverse displays a finely struck composition centered on the large numeral '1000' with the legend 'YEN' inscribed beneath it on a scroll-like ribbon. Above the denomination, the commemorative inscription 地方自治六十年 (60 Years of Local Autonomy) appears in bold Japanese characters. The upper field is dominated by an elegantly rendered spray of cherry blossoms (sakura) to the left and an intricate arrangement of stylized snowflake motifs to the right, both executed in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. A large crescent moon arc sweeps across the lower right of the design. The reign date 平成26年 (Year 26 of Heisei) is inscribed along the lower rim, with the series number (47/60) indicated on the coin.
