| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Uganda occupies the central field, depicting a shield supported by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with crossed spears behind the shield and a scroll below bearing the national motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY. The date 1999 is divided to either side of the supporters, with 19 at left and 99 at right. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination 1000 SHILLINGS curves along the lower periphery. The design is framed by a beaded border. |
