The Seymour Panther was one of the ten heraldic beasts carried as supporter badges by the retinue of Jane Seymour at the coronation of Edward VI in 1547. The Queen's Beasts program at the Royal Mint has cycled through multiple formats since the original Arnold Machin plaster models were commissioned for Elizabeth II's 1953 coronation, but this 2022 issue belongs to a distinct second-generation series drawing from Tudor heraldry rather than the canonical ten beasts of that earlier program.
At two kilograms of .999 silver, production tolerances at this diameter demand individual quality checks that standard bullion runs never require.
