Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, depicted with a drop earring and wearing a necklace, as engraved by Jody Clark — the fifth definitive portrait of the Queen used on British coinage. The legend ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 1000 POUNDS runs around the full circumference of the field, interrupted by the portrait. The engraver's initials J.C appear beneath the truncation of the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, characteristic of the large-format commemorative format.

Aanvullende informatie

The Seymour Panther was one of the ten heraldic beasts carried as supporter badges by the retinue of Jane Seymour at the coronation of Edward VI in 1547. The Queen's Beasts program at the Royal Mint has cycled through multiple formats since the original Arnold Machin plaster models were commissioned for Elizabeth II's 1953 coronation, but this 2022 issue belongs to a distinct second-generation series drawing from Tudor heraldry rather than the canonical ten beasts of that earlier program.

At two kilograms of .999 silver, production tolerances at this diameter demand individual quality checks that standard bullion runs never require.
