(Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith)
Reverse description The central device, designed by John Bergdahl, features the St. Edward's Crown prominently displayed at centre, resting upon the crossed Royal Sceptre with Cross and the Sovereign's Orb, all rendered in high sculptural relief. Two decorative ribbons inscribed with the coronation date 2ND JUNE and the year 1953 are entwined among the regalia. The composition is richly embellished with an elaborate garland of roses, thistles, shamrocks, and laurel branches encircling the regalia, evoking the floral emblems of the United Kingdom. The circumferential legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH II in the upper arc and THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CORONATION along the lower arc, all set against deeply polished proof fields.
