Reverse description A large intaglio-engraved battle vignette in blue-green occupies the central field, rendered in fine line work and portraying a melee of armoured cavalry and foot soldiers in the manner of a 16th-century imperial engagement, likely evoking the military campaigns of Carlos I. The note is printed in brown with an ornate scrollwork border incorporating quatrefoil corner ornaments, and the denomination numeral '1000' appears within a decorative cartouche at the foot. The bank title 'BANCO DE ESPAÑA' is printed in violet letterpress at the top, with the printer's imprint visible in the lower margin.
