| 备注 |
Phoenix AG was one of the major integrated coal and steel producers in the Ruhr, operating blast furnaces and collieries across the Rheinisch-Westfälisches industrial belt. This note belongs to the vast wave of corporate Notgeld issued in 1922 as the Reichsbank's ability to supply adequate currency denominations collapsed under accelerating inflation — large industrial employers effectively became issuers of last resort, paying wages in their own paper when official notes were unavailable in sufficient quantity.
The watermark security feature is worth noting: most emergency industrial issues of this period dispensed with it entirely, using whatever paper stock was immediately available. Its presence here suggests Phoenix drew on a pre-arranged paper supply rather than scrambling, as many smaller issuers were forced to do.
