| Descrizione del dritto | Central design features a double-headed eagle displayed, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, enclosed within a diamond-shaped geometric frame adorned with traditional Turkmen carpet motifs at each corner. The outer border carries eight additional ornamental carpet-pattern medallions arranged symmetrically around the circumference, flanked at lower left and right by sprigs of wheat or olive branches. The circular legend around the upper periphery reads TURKMENISTANYN MERKEZI BANKY, with the inscription TURKMENISTANYN PREZIDENTI SAPARMYRAT TURKMENBASY arranged within the inner frame surrounding the eagle. The date 2006 appears in the lower exergue. |

The Ruhnama — literally "Book of the Soul" — was a two-volume spiritual and nationalist text authored by Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmenistan's autocratic president-for-life, who required it to be memorized for citizenship tests, driving exams, and university entrance. Schools replaced hours of conventional instruction with Ruhnama study. This coin was issued the year before Niyazov's sudden death in December 2006, part of a broader state program that treated the book as quasi-scripture. His successor, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, quietly removed Ruhnama requirements from public life within two years of taking power.
