At left, an oval vignette in intaglio portrays a crowned allegorical male figure — likely Neptune or a river god — seated with an eagle and a jug, set within an elaborate ornamental border. The bank name "BANCO DI SICILIA" and denomination "LIRE MILLE" are printed in large letterpress across the centre, with the bearer clause and authorizing decree references below. Two manuscript signatures appear beneath the titles "IL DIRETTORE GENERALE" and "IL CASSIERE", with the serial number repeated at lower right within a circular guilloche medallion. |

| Opis rewersu | Blue intaglio print on a fine guilloche ground. The numeral "1000" is set in the centre within interlocking circular guilloche frames. Surrounding it are six circular medallions, each containing an intaglio portrait bust of a classical female figure in profile, arranged symmetrically across the field. A large blank circular reserve occupies the left side, and a circular medallion at far right contains a standing allegorical winged figure. A red circular official cancellation stamp reading "DECRETO MINISTERIALE DEL 20 LUGLIO 1898" is applied at lower centre. |
