| Obverse description | The obverse centres on a portrait vignette of Volodymyr Vernadskyi (1863–1945), the distinguished Ukrainian scientist, philosopher, and founder of the disciplines of geochemistry, biogeochemistry, and radiogeology, as well as the first president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The denomination ₴1000 appears in numerals at upper left and lower right within a multicolour guilloche underprint, alongside the inscription in Cyrillic attributing a patriotic quotation to Vernadskyi.
