| Beschrijving voorzijde | Elaborate intaglio-engraved note in dark greenish-black ink on cream paper, with rich allegorical vignettes framing all four sides: angelic putti and classical figures in the upper border, reclining allegorical figures flanking the lower register, and seated figural groups at the lateral edges. The central field carries the large letterpress denomination mille francs in bold script, surmounted by the issuing authority heading BANQUE DE FRANCE and the branch designation SUCCURSALE DE MARSEILLE. Manuscript signatures, register references, and the handwritten date appear in the lower central area, with two circular cancellation stamps reading MARSEILLE 29 OCT 1921 ANNULÉ applied at left and right. |
