Cameroon's foray into the commemorative bullion market accelerated sharply after 2000, with the republic licensing its minting authority to European producers — primarily Bavarian operations — to produce themed collector coins bearing Cameroonian face values that would never circulate within the country. This piece is a product of that arrangement, issued nominally under Cameroonian authority but designed and struck entirely for the European collector market.
