The Bank of Central African States issues legal tender collector coins well outside the monetary needs of its six member states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo. These pieces are produced entirely for the international numismatic market and see no circulation within the issuing territory. The arrangement is effectively a licensing revenue stream, common among smaller monetary unions with limited hard currency reserves.
