Beschrijving keerzijde The central design features a realistically rendered, color-inlaid fossilized Mosasauridae tooth, depicted in naturalistic amber and brown tones, set against a textured rocky or sandy background. Surrounding the inlaid tooth, highly detailed skeletal and cranial fossil fragments of the Mosasauridae are depicted in high relief across the field, evoking the appearance of an archaeological excavation. The series title 'WORLD OF EVOLUTION' is inscribed along the upper border, while 'MOSASAURIDAE' appears in the lower field and the year '2017' is positioned to the lower right. The fineness and weight notation '1 OZ AG 0.999' is incused vertically along the right inner border. The overall design is finished in antique style, enhancing the prehistoric and fossilized aesthetic of the composition.

Aanvullende informatie

Burkina Faso has no fossil record of mosasaurs — these fully marine predators never inhabited what is now landlocked West Africa during the Late Cretaceous. The coin exists purely because the BCEAO-affiliated issuing framework allows member states to license their names to third-party numismatic programs, overwhelmingly produced by the Polish mint Mennica Polska, which has struck dozens of nearly identical prehistoric fauna issues across multiple nominal African issuers since roughly 2014.

KM#129 was never intended for circulation and likely saw no distribution within Burkina Faso itself.
