| 表面の説明 | The national coat of arms of Burkina Faso occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a five-pointed star, supported by two rearing horses, with crossed spears behind the shield and a book at the base. A scroll below the supporters bears the national motto in three parts: 'Unité', 'Progrès', and 'Justice'. A banner above the shield reads 'BURKINA FASO'. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO' curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in large relief letters along the lower portion of the coin. The entire design is rendered in antique finish, imparting a darkened, aged appearance to the silver surface. |

Burkina Faso has no fossil record of mosasaurs — these fully marine predators never inhabited what is now landlocked West Africa during the Late Cretaceous. The coin exists purely because the BCEAO-affiliated issuing framework allows member states to license their names to third-party numismatic programs, overwhelmingly produced by the Polish mint Mennica Polska, which has struck dozens of nearly identical prehistoric fauna issues across multiple nominal African issuers since roughly 2014.
KM#129 was never intended for circulation and likely saw no distribution within Burkina Faso itself.
