Ludwig Erhard served as West Germany's Economics Minister from 1949 and is credited with designing the social market economy that underpinned the postwar Wirtschaftswunder. Togo, a former German protectorate until 1914, issued this piece as part of a broader series of commemorative francs CFA produced through European minting intermediaries — coins effectively sold to collectors abroad rather than circulated domestically.
The KM# 107 attribution places it within a cluster of Togolese issues from this period that were licensed through the Bavarian State Mint and similar contractors.
