| Descrizione del dritto | The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a castle, a star of Benin, a palm tree, and a sailing ship, supported on either side by leopard supporters rampant, with a scroll below inscribed FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL. Two interlocked buffalo horns surmount the shield as a crest. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in bold letters in the lower field. The mirror-like prooflike field provides strong contrast against the finely detailed relief of the arms. |

The BCEAO issues commemorative silver on behalf of its eight member states — Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo — under a shared monetary union whose franc CFA is pegged to the euro at a fixed rate of 655.957, a parity inherited from the pre-1999 French franc arrangement.
