| Reverse description | The reverse depicts the Walking Liberty design, adapted from Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated motif used on the American Silver Eagle series, commemorating the 30th anniversary of that coinage from 1986 to 2016. Liberty is shown in full stride to the left, draped in the American flag, her right hand extended forward bearing oak and laurel branches, with rays of the rising sun emanating from behind her figure in the lower field. The legend AMERICAN EAGLE 1986-2016 arcs along the upper periphery, and the inscription .999 FINE SILVER 1 OZ appears along the lower rim. |

Gabon's franc CFA issues of this type were produced primarily for the collector market rather than domestic circulation — the CFA franc zone, managed through the Bank of Central African States, has never used silver coinage in everyday commerce. The 1000 CFA face value is nominal; the coin was struck under license arrangements common to small-nation commemorative programs, where a European mint contracts the design and production while the issuing country lends its name and legal tender status.
