| 背面描述 | A draped bust of Liberty faces right in the central field, modelled after the Flowing Hair design of the 1795 United States gold coinage, with flowing tresses beneath a cap and fine drapery at the shoulder. The inscription LIBERTY arcs above the bust, and the date 1795 appears in the lower central field. A border of fifteen five-pointed stars encircles the central device. The upper legend 1 OUNCE SILVER COIN arcs along the outer rim, and LEGENDARY GOLD CLASSICS is inscribed along the lower rim, with the mint year 2015 and fineness .999 flanking the star border. |

The "1795" in this coin's title refers to the French Revolutionary calendar date corresponding to the abolition of slavery in the colonies — a decree issued by the National Convention on 4 February 1794 (16 pluviôse, Year II). Benin's use of this date is deliberate: the modern Republic sits on the territory of the former Kingdom of Dahomey, itself a significant participant in the Atlantic slave trade as a supplier rather than a victim. That tension is rarely acknowledged in the numismatic literature surrounding this issue.
The coin is part of a broader commemorative program issued under Benin's nominal authority but produced and marketed almost entirely by European distributors, a common arrangement for small-nation collector issues since the 1990s.
