Beschrijving voorzijde The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the left portion of the rectangular field, rendered in high relief with two leopard supporters flanking a shield bearing a palm tree and sailing vessel on divided quarters, surmounted by a star and a buffalo head crest, with the national motto 'FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL' on a scroll at the base. To the right, the legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN' appears in two lines above the denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA' in bold relief. The date '2026' is inscribed in the lower left field beneath the coat of arms. The entire design is presented with an antique finish, giving the surface a deeply aged, textured appearance.

Beschrijving keerzijde A highly detailed, naturalistic high-relief composition depicts a family of eagles perched among gnarled branches and pine foliage. Two adult eagles dominate the scene — one standing upright at left with wings partially folded, the other resting at right with its characteristic hooked beak prominently rendered — while a juvenile eagle is visible in the lower centre, nestled among the branches. A panoramic forest landscape with conifer trees recedes into the background field. The fineness and weight inscription '1 OZ .999 AG' appears in the lower left exergue area.

Aanvullende informatie

The BCEAO issues commemorative silver coinage under licensing arrangements common to West African monetary unions, where the actual minting is contracted to European facilities — most often in France or Poland — rather than struck domestically. These pieces circulate in name only across the eight UEMOA member states, though in practice they are produced entirely for the collector market.
