1000 Francs CFA African Springbok, 'Golden Enigma'

The "Golden Enigma" is a private mint product issued under the BEAC's (Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale) umbrella authority — a common arrangement in which central banks of smaller economies license their name to bullion and numismatic dealers, primarily European, who handle design, production, and distribution entirely. The actual striking almost certainly occurred in a European facility, not in Central Africa.

The springbok is indigenous to southern Africa, well outside BEAC member territory, which spans Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, and neighboring states. Its appearance here is purely commercial.
