Artsakh — the self-declared republic controlling the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh enclave — issued collector coinage through its own central bank despite lacking broad international recognition. This piece commemorates 1,700 years of Armenian Christianity, dating the anniversary to 301 AD when King Tiridates III converted and made Armenia the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion. The Artsakh issues were struck by a contracted European mint, not domestically.
