Beschrijving keerzijde A finely detailed right-facing portrait bust of Marshal Josip Broz Tito fills the right portion of the field, rendered in high relief with naturalistic modelling of the facial features and hair. Behind the portrait, a large multi-pointed partisan star dominates the left background, with stylised flag drapery visible to the upper right. A horizontal band traverses the lower mid-field, bearing the commemorative dates 1941 and 1981 in raised numerals, marking the 40th anniversary of the Yugoslav Uprising against the Axis occupation. The overall composition is executed in a bold, socialist realist artistic style characteristic of Yugoslav commemorative coinage of this period.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the fortieth anniversary of the Yugoslav Partisan uprising against Axis occupation, this coin appeared during a politically delicate moment — Tito had died in May 1980, and the rotating presidency that replaced him was already showing the strains that would eventually fracture the federation. The commemorative program that produced this piece was part of a broader state effort to reinforce a unified Yugoslav identity precisely when that identity was becoming contested.
