| Descrizione del dritto | Printed in orange on a polychrome underprint by intaglio and offset, the obverse is centred on an oval vignette containing a portrait of Pedro Álvares Cabral (1467/68–1520), discoverer of Brazil. The heading inscription 'REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL' arcs above, while 'MIL CRUZEIROS / VALOR RECEBIDO' appears beneath the vignette, flanked on both sides by serial and print sequence numbers. A diagonal manuscript autograph of the anonymous conference official responsible for verification is present across the note face. |

Brazil's Tesouro Nacional issued this series in the immediate postwar period as the country's economy strained under inflation that would only worsen through the 1950s. The 1000 Cruzeiros denomination was substantial — high-value notes of this type circulated primarily in commercial and banking transactions rather than retail use, which partly explains why heavily worn examples are uncommon despite the inflationary pressure that eroded their purchasing power quickly.
The "autographed" designation refers to the hand-signed authorization signatures applied to individual notes — a practice Thomas De La Rue supplied the printed substrate for, with signing completed separately. The second print distinction matters for collectors tracking plate differences within P#149.
