| Beschrijving voorzijde | Portrait of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) in three-quarter view to the right, dressed in the ceremonial robes of the Chakri dynasty, occupies the right half of the note. P#122 belongs to the sixteenth series of Thai banknotes, a series introduced gradually from 2003 onward and still current during this period. The 1000 Baht denomination is the highest in regular circulation, which means this note carried significant daily commercial weight in a cash-dominant economy — hotel payments, wholesale trade, and large retail transactions all moved through it routinely.
Printed entirely in-house at the Bank of Thailand's own facility on Chakrapong Road, the note reflects Thailand's long-standing policy of maintaining sovereign printing capacity rather than contracting offshore. The NPW has produced Thai currency without interruption since 1969.
