| 背面描述 | The reverse presents two jugate busts in right-facing profile: Mieszko I, the first Duke of Poland, shown in the foreground with a diadem and stylised beard, and Dobrawa (Dąbrówka), his Bohemian consort, depicted slightly behind and to the right, also crowned. Between the busts at the lower centre, a small Polish eagle badge is incuse. The inscriptions MIESZKO I and DĄBRÓWKA appear along the lower field in a bold sans-serif font, with the word PRÓBA (meaning 'trial' or 'pattern') positioned to the right. The design is the work of engraver Wacław Kowalik and exemplifies the sculptural, monumental style characteristic of Polish commemorative coinage of the era. |

Poland's Millennium coinage commemorated 1,000 years of Polish statehood — dated to the baptism of Mieszko I in 966 AD — and became entangled in the bitter ideological rivalry between the communist government and the Catholic Church, both of whom claimed the anniversary as their own. The state issued official commemoratives while the Church ran a parallel program; the political tension shaped which designs were approved, rejected, or quietly buried. This nickel trial strike never entered circulation.
The Pr84 designation confirms pattern status. Multiple face and eagle configurations were tested across this series before final types were fixed.
