| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features the Polish state eagle — a crowned eagle displayed with wings raised — rendered in low relief at the centre of a circular inner field. Surrounding the eagle, the circular legend reads POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA with the date 1960 at the base, separated by a raised inner border. The broad outer border is decorated with a continuous frieze of fourteen historical regional coats of arms in relief, each contained within a small shield or cartouche, commemorating the Polish Millennium. The overall design is by Józef Gosławski and reflects a medallic, commemorative artistic style. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Poland's Millennium coinage commemorated 1,000 years of Polish statehood — dated to the baptism of Mieszko I in 966 AD — and became entangled in the bitter ideological rivalry between the communist government and the Catholic Church, both of whom claimed the anniversary as their own. The state issued official commemoratives while the Church ran a parallel program; the political tension shaped which designs were approved, rejected, or quietly buried. This nickel trial strike never entered circulation.
The Pr84 designation confirms pattern status. Multiple face and eagle configurations were tested across this series before final types were fixed.
