| Reverse description | The reverse presents conjoined busts of Mieszko I and Dąbrówka in right-facing profile, both wearing royal crowns with bead-set bands, engraved in a stylized, archaic manner evoking medieval portraiture. Mieszko I appears slightly behind and to the left, with a bearded chin and defined facial features, while Dąbrówka is rendered in a more delicate profile to the right. A small Polish eagle shield appears between the two figures at the base of the busts. The legend MIESZKO I DĄBRÓWKA is inscribed along the lower field, with the word PRÓBA (trial/pattern) appearing to the right, identifying this as a proof-pattern strike commemorating the Polish Millennium. |

| Additional information |
Poland's Millennium coinage program commemorated the 900th anniversary of Polish statehood — specifically the Christianization of Poland in 966 AD under Mieszko I. The 1960 trial strikes were produced in multiple metal variants and with competing eagle designs as authorities worked through acceptable types before settling on final circulation specifications. This particular piece, with the second-type eagle, documents that selection process directly.
Trial strikes from this program rarely escaped official channels, which accounts for their extreme scarcity in private hands today.
