| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a dignified bust-length portrait of King Casimir III the Great (Kazimierz III Wielki), facing slightly to the left, wearing an ornate fleur-de-lis royal crown and rich royal robes with elaborate decorative details. The king is depicted with a long flowing beard, lending the effigy a majestic and authoritative character consistent with medieval royal iconography. He holds a sceptre in his right hand, and a shield bearing heraldic decoration is visible to his left. The legend KAZIMIERZ III WIELKI arcs along the left field, while the regnal dates 1333–1370 appear along the right field, flanking the portrait. |

Casimir III — the only Polish king history awarded the epithet "Great" — died in 1370 after a hunting accident, leaving no legitimate male heir and ending the Piast dynasty after over four centuries. This issue falls within a long series of commemorative zlotys produced by the Polish People's Republic throughout the 1980s, a period when the NBP regularly used collector coinage as a modest hard-currency earner while the domestic economy deteriorated under martial law's aftermath and chronic shortages.
Copper-nickel issues of this type circulated nominally but were largely absorbed by the collector market almost immediately upon release.
