China's platinum Panda issues occupy an oddly marginal place in the series — produced in far smaller quantities than their gold and silver counterparts, they attract a collector base that remains narrow enough to suppress secondary market premiums relative to melt. The 3g platinum denomination has existed in various configurations since the 1990s, but annual mintage figures have never approached those of the flagship gold issues.
KM#2890 has not yet accumulated the attribution history that older issues carry.
